“My pragmatism has beaten my dreams out of me.”

PSA — what you want matters.

Sometimes you have to slow down in order to speed up. This can look like taking a moment to breathe, and really assess where you are personally and professionally. Time to get real with it, to get curious.

It’s something that so few of us take time to do, yet It’s such a beautiful act of self care and love to do.

PSA — What you want matters.

I have worked with hundreds of professionals, executives, and leaders over my career,  and it is alarming how many of them have a hard time knowing and articulating exactly what it is that they want. Like what they really, really want.

In order to get to this answer, you have to understand what motivates you. What makes you feel whole, complete, and in alignment with your values? If you don’t understand how you’re motivated, you’re not going to have enough gas in the tank to get through difficult times.

In my opinion, this life is too short to waste a moment of it living a life that doesn’t make you feel alive. To do what brings you joy.

There are many reasons why people have a hard time articulating their ‘why’. And I believe it’s because to really get clear with what you want can be painful. It’s wrapped in fear, self-doubt, limiting beliefs, a mountain of changes to make, and you’re already feeling so tired. So it’s easier to move about your day and life ignoring it than it is to think about it.

Because once you know you have to make a change.

And change and comfort do not coexist.

But if I can be real with you — damn is it worth it. Let’s not sleep away this life. Let’s stop hitting the snooze button. Let’s take a deep breath and jump in the deep end. You of all people deserve it.

So, what do you really, really want? Go on — I’m listening.
